Court Security
It is the responsibility of the Burnet County Sheriff’s Office to provide security in the 33rd and 424th District Court, Child Protection Court of the Hill Country, Burnet County Court at Law, and Attorney General Court. Our goal is to treat everyone involved in the court process with integrity and professionalism.
The Court Security Division Deputies are entrusted to maintain the integrity of the Court and allow all members of the Court family, the Judiciary, and Jury members to perform in a safe and protected environment. All court security deputies go through the same training as field deputies so that they are able to take appropriate law enforcement action when necessary. The division consists of 6 uniformed deputies and a sergeant and is under the direction of the Support Services/Administration Captain.
Due to the nature of the business conducted in the court facilities, you can expect to go through a screening checkpoint upon entering the buildings. You will be treated with courtesy and respect.
To ensure minimal delay, you are encouraged to arrive a few minutes prior to your appointment so that you may complete the security screening process. As with many secured facilities, you will not be allowed to bring in prohibited items such as weapons, explosives, incendiaries, and even some items that you may believe are harmless but may be used as weapons. These items include, but are not limited to, guns of any kind, knives of any kind, mace/pepper spray, and electronic stun devices.
If you have any questions or concerns that pertain to the security of any of the above listed courts please contact SGT Amy Willeke at awilleke@burnetsheriff.com or call (512) 756-8080.
